"Good" Add-On Shower

Clawfoot Alley recommends that you hire a qualified plumber to install the components of your clawfoot tub. This is the best way to ensure correct, professional installation.

1. Turn off water supply.
2. Unthread faucet locknuts and supply coupling nuts from your present tub faucet. Remove faucet from tub.
3. Apply a bead of plumbers putty around the tub faucet supply holes.
4. Place new tub faucet (A) into position. Attach locknuts (B) to threaded shanks and tighten.
5. Reconnect existing supply hose pieces into faucet shanks. Tighten coupling nuts securely.
6. Slide (5-way) wall support tee (K) onto upper riser (E). 7. Thread upper riser (E) to lower section (H), Thread shower head to upper riser (E) using Teflon tape.
8. Line up assembled riser with connector nut (J).
9. Thread riser connector nut (J) onto riser pipe using Teflon tape.
10. Locate (5-way) wall support tee (K) 8 ft. 3 in. from inside bottom of tub.
11. Cut wall support rod (short tube) (L) to a length equal to the tee (K) to wall measurement plus 1/4 in.
12. Thread support rod (L) into tee (K). Slide flange (M) onto support rod and mark location of set screw hole on support rod. Remove flange and drill a 5/32" hole where location mark was placed. Slide flange back onto support rod and tighten set screw. Position flange flush against wall and mark screw holes.
13. Fasten flange (M) to wall with wood screws provided. Tighten set screw.
14. Slide curtain frame sections (N) onto wall support tee (K). Align set screw holes on tee and curtain frame. Tighten set screws.
15. Slide curtain frame sections (N) onto ceiling support tee (P). Make sure support rod hole points to the ceiling. Align set screw holes m tee and curtain frame. Tighten set screws.
16. Cut ceiling support rod (Q) to a length equal to the clip (P) to ceiiing measurement plus 1/4 in.
17. Insert clip (P) half into a tube end by squeezing (use pliers). Assemble rod (Q) with hanging ring and put it onto tube. Then insert the rest half clip into the end of another tube. Slide flange (R) onto support rod and mark location of set screw hole on support rod. Remove flange and drill a 5/32" hole where location mark was placed. Slide flange back onto support rod and tighten set screw. Position flange flush against ceiling and mark screw hole.
18. Fasten flange (R) to coiling with wood screws provided. Tighten set screw.
19. Turn on water.

"Better" Add-On Shower

1. Turn off water supply.

Lay out and make sure you know where the parts go. Put set screws in the connection but do not thread all the way in. Set up the curtain rod on the floor and put set screws in to hold the ring together. Mount the faucet on tub and check out the sizing Do not cut any thing until you have check and rechecked the measurements. Check the ceiling supports out and measure again. If your sure your right then you can cut to size. Use Teflon tape on all water fitting that do not have washers.

Oval Rod

Measure riser and the distance to the ceiling. The curtain rod should be not more than 60 inches from the faucet riser connection. Install oval shower curtain rod. Slide goose neck of the riser though the wall support connection hole and connect the riser to the pipe coupling then connect to the faucet.

L-Rod

Assemble sections A and B . Locate wall flanges and install with wood screws so that “L” ROD is centrally located over tub. Make certain that “L” ROD is installed under shower arm and head or under riser assembly. Remove “L” ROD slip the ceiling support on to the rod. Then cut to fit in to the Wall flanges and then cut (B) the ceiling support to fit. Attach the ceiling rod flange above the rod and connect. It is best to plan for the shower curtain when installing the ceiling support. We recommend putting the ceiling support near the bend as to give you the most room to get in and out of the tub. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

D-Rod

Clawfoot Alley recommends that you hire a qualified plumber to install the components of your clawfoot tub. This is the best way to ensure correct, professional installation.

Assemble bent sections A and B to front section C with special adapters attached. Slide ceiling support loop G onto straight section C. Place adhesive tape or masking tape over joining areas E and F to facilitate installation. Locate wall flanges H and I and install with wood screws so that “U” ROD is centrally located over tub. Make certain that “U” ROD is installed under shower arm and head or under riser assembly. Preassemble “U” ROD to wall flanges while placing ceiling support rod along center of section C to locate ceiling support flange J and to determine proper length of ceiling support rod K. Remove “U” ROD for later assembly. Cut ceiling support rod K with metal saw and mount ceiling support flange J to ceiling with wood screws. Screw ceiling support rod K into ceiling flange J. **On “D” ROD installation skip to “D” ROD instructions below. Reassemble “U” ROD to flanges H and I while attaching rod K to loop G and tighten set screw. On stainless steel “U” ROD tighten set screw on wall flanges H and L. Remove tape and installation is complete. Installation instructions for “D” ROD is the same as above for “U” ROD with one exception. Follow instructions to point ** Locate back bar M on open side of assembly with preassembled loops. Locate back bar M at a point where the curtain will drop vertically into the tub. Tighten set screws.
